Bernard Unti is special policy adviser and special assistant to the president of HSUS; he also serves as a teacher at Humane Society University and as an assistant treasurer on the HSUS Board of Directors.
He has written several books and papers on animal causes, including Cruelty Indivisible: Historical Perspectives on the Link Between Cruelty to Animals and Interpersonal Violence, published in 2008, and Protecting All Animals: A Fifty-Year History of the Humane Society of the United States, published in 2004. He earned a Ph.D. in U.S. history from American University in 2002.
