Jayasimha "N.G." Nuggehalli is a campaign manager with Humane Society International and was a campaign manager and legal affairs coordinator with PETA India until late 2009. Jayasimha was arrested in January 2008 along with PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk in Chennai, India for blindfolding a statue of Gandhi. On his Facebook profile, Jayasimha states:
I am an Animal Rights Activist dedicated to effectively allocate resources (time and money) to end the "property" status of nonhuman animals and abolish institutionalized animal exploitation because it assumes that animals are property.
Newkirk called him “one of the great movers and shakers in PETA India” in 2008. He's taken part in a typical PETA's "Meat is Murder" protest and helped organize boycott of Indian leather by American companies.
