Birds of a Feather

Here's an entertaining little "tweet" from Carie Lewis, HSUS's social-networking guru. She's attending the South By Southwest festival this week (along with some of her nuttier friends, apparently...)

Next time someone questions the idea that HSUS and PETA share the same goals, show them this.

Interesting that you post this.  At VNN, we tried to enter a discussion with Carie when the news broke about HSUS’s 2008 tax return.  After trying the standard response about CCF and restaurant interests, she actually gave us a “LOL” when we asked her what their side of the story was.

We then sent her a very detailed email asking about the tax return and we have yet to hear back from her.

Given the power HumaneWatch is seeing with social media, I wonder if HSUS has the wrong person as their “emerging media director”

Carie’s tweets are hysterical.  Most of my personal favorites came from when she was working for HSUS at Sundance.

@mmarkarian you would be so proud of me, pushing our full name to celebs on their flip cam interviews. http://bit.ly/6smU4T #hsusatsundance

just got my picture taken with Samuel L. Jackson
holding a @HumaneSociety adopt sweatshirt. Happy birthday to ME!!! #sundance

CNN will be shooting Dakota Fanning & Kristen
Stewart in front of the @HumaneSociety logo screen for #Sundance! Look for us! #hsusatsundance

@cdigennaro I’m here at #sundance tweeting and Facebooking with celebrities and exposingthem to @HumaneSociety issues. It’s been great!

“Shameless” doesn’t even begin to describe her.

Thing is, Carie, “animal people” ARE uniting - against HSUS!

Here are some of her thoughts on how to successfully maximize use of social media.  I’d imagine it works well for both sides.
