Humane Bites #99: Taking the “Pet” Out of “Pet Store”

Clippings culled from all over the electronic news world. (E-mail submissions for tomorrow.)
- It's official: HSUS supports banning the sale of pets in cities like New York and San Francisco
- Letter: Ohio Governor may as well get used to Wayne Pacelle's preferred diet
- In what must have been a mental lapse, the Los Angeles Times left HSUS out of a feature about anti-milk sentiments
- Ohio’s State Agriculture Director says HSUS’s recommendations are “not absolutes”
- Impromptu "tweet-storm" erupts over HSUS's inflated membership claims
- Your Daily Shelter: Arkansas’s Good Shepherd Humane Society (Donate. Volunteer. Adopt.)

I work at a shelter and if we got in a case like that we hold the dog for 10 days and have our dog Specialist evaluate them put the dog in a similar situation and see how the dog reacts.Yes the shelter can put the dog down by law.You could go ahead and let the shelter know about the neighbors letting their dog off leash and see where that gets you.We are a unique shelter we are usually on the dogs side before the humans we try to see if it was dog or human error that caused the dog to attack. Most shelters though will just put the animal down sorry.Go in and fight for the dog! Do not just let it sit in the shelter if you go in daily and see the dog demand a evaluation by a specialist you may be able to help if you happen to get the dog back put up a fence!!!

I guess I missed it, but HSUS is making a dog food being sold at Petco. It only has 3 reviews but they’re all positive. For everyone that truly loves dogs, let’s let Petco shoppers know in the reviews that an all vegan diet for dogs is not healthy.
I’ve left a review, waiting to see if Petco will allow it.
Thanks,
