The Eggless Omelet, California Style

Sacramento is (as one political writer recently quipped) "where good ideas go to die, and where bad ideas kill them slowly." It's also an iron-clad lobbying stronghold of the Humane Society of the United States.
On Saturday, the paper of record in California's capital published our op-ed about the politics of eggs in the Golden State. Here's a taste:
What's really at stake here is that word: "humane." HSUS seems to want a monopoly on it, even though other animal welfare-oriented groups – and plenty of scientists – disagree with its agenda. And that agenda is where the rubber meets the road: HSUS is run by vegans who don't believe anyone should eat eggs, regardless of how or where they were produced.
Most recently, HSUS has opposed attempts by California lawmakers to specifically define the standards mandated by Proposition 2. The very vague language that California voters approved in 2008 gives HSUS's enormous legal team enough wiggle room to hassle farmers who don't see things HSUS's way.
Of course, enriched chicken cages could be furnished with couches, Jacuzzis, treadmills and iPads, and activists who believe in "rights" for birds would still complain about them. HSUS is among them. And its vision of what's "humane" is outside the mainstream.

HSUS, or as some know it, the Humane Society of the United States, is run by vegans. Yes, all of them, Wayne Pacelle on down. It is his agenda to turn this entire country into vegans. Now, keep in mind, I don’t eat meat or chicken or any thing like that but to try and accomplish what he is trying to do is like me taking all those donations they get (multiple millions by the way) and trying to turn this entire country to just one religion.
I do understand what vegans would love to see but realistically, if you look at it the way I just put it, does it make sense? If everyone went vegan would all the vegans convert to Catholics? Jews? Of course not. Everyone has their own beliefs, their own customs.
Can we possibly stop the factory farming and have the animals raised and euthanized in a more humane way? Perhaps. However, people are going to continue to eat meat. NO we don’t all like it but lets get real. It is what it is. Period.
So let’s stop FEEDING Wayne Pacelle and HSUS his $19.00 a month for his pitiful commercials he makes that never go to where he says it does anyway and start giving your hard earned money locally. Find your local shelter, local “Humane Society” that Wayne does not feed by the way, or a local rescue that you have checked out to be ethical and see what you can do to help.
Wayne doesn’t need another $4000.00 suit to wear on Oprah or another set of veneers for his teeth.
