HSUS Corporate Supporters List (New and Improved)

(UPDATED March 4) -- Last week Pilot Travel Centers became "YellowFail 2.0"—but there are still many, many companies that provide support (financial or otherwise) to the Humane Society of the United States. The grassroots-oriented response to Yellow Tail and Pilot was really quite something to watch, but I think this may only be the beginning.

I'm confident that a few of these companies know exactly what they're doing: When you sell "meat alternatives" or vegan beauty products, writing a check to HSUS is really just a way to put your money where your mouth is. But many probably don't understand that HSUS isn't a pet-sheltering organization. They may not have figured out that HSUS's agenda is closely aligned with that of PETA. They probably haven't conbsidered how many of their own customers have to fight HSUS on a regular basis just to stay in business.

This version of the list adds companies listed as sponsors of the HSUS-run "Genesis Awards" show on March 20. I'll keep updating the info from time to time. Facebook links are included where possible. Do with this what you will. And feel free to use the HumaneWatch Facebook page as a central organizing space.

Whatever happened to the livestock industry and their being upset about Bank of America (BOA) offering an affinity credit card for HSUS?  BOA is a huge lender to the livestock industry.

May I suggest each week, you suggest one group folks can send emails to in regards to their support of H$U$.

If we can bombard enough of them, the dominos will fall.

We can pick one business at a time and if every farmer and every pet owner sends just one email to that place, what a bold statement that will be

you could even provide a little template for those too lazy or with no clue what to say

I’m going to contact my Univeristy and have them put pressure on Bank of America.  My credit card that helps give money to the university is issued by BOA.

I agree with captbarbosa. Bombarding one company really does work. The FB group People Opposed to the Michael Vick Reality Show bombards the shows supporters, 20 have pulled support in 3 weeks. People also provide example emails for those of us who don’t know what to say. Maybe if someone could start a group like that we could make some progress, I don’t know enough about the issue to start it myself. Here’s a link to the group to use as an example if anyone wants to start something like this. I think it would work, we have to do something.

What about Petfinder,Greater Good, etc.  I run a small rescue and have to use Petfinder to get my dogs adopted.  They have been very difficult to work with because my website is through a different group not them.

Also, a lot of my friends think clicking on Greater Good every day actually helps the animals in shelters.

What a sham.  I will spread the word for people not to click on Greater Good.

As far as the livestock industry & BOA’s donations to HSUS, BOA’s position is that their donations to HSUS are only generated through the use of the special HSUS card they issue. So you would have to sign up for the HSUS card through BOA and then a percentage of funds are donated to HSUS based on the card holders purchases. That is what BOA told my husband when he said he was going to cancel his AQHA card through BOA.

Of course Bill Gates (Microsoft) supports H$U$, he thinks the world is over populated with humans….didn’t stop him from having a bunch of his own though. He thinks our footprint on this earth is the making of earth’s demise.

I am not sure if they are supporters of HSUS, but Halo (owned by Ellen DeGeneres - have natural dog and cat foods) posts HSUS articles on their website. Halo also has a stamp set at USPS offices for people to contribute to Halo’s charities. Does anyone know any more information about HSUS and a possibile affiliation with Halo? I don’t want to buy these stamps if so.

I called Harland Clark to verify that they do NOT donate the HSUS.  I was told they only donate from people who pick HSUS offered checks.  I was told no corporate donations are made to HSUS.  Is this not true?

If you look under Campaign on the website promoting the new stamps you will find HSUS displayed.

Add Cesar Millan the “Dog Whisperer”
He has direct links to the HSUS’s donation page on his site. He advocates supporting local shelters in his show and video’s but solicites for HSUS on his site. He is a great voice to dog owners.

Add Pat Parelli - a horsemanship clinician. He was the hsus 2008 horsemen of the year—and is still a supporter of hsus.  Also in the horse world is ATHCA - they are “sponsored by HSUS” ,  who of course doesn’t contribute anything but their name. Seems that would cause more harm than good, but it also seems that the majority of horse people are a little slower in seeing or caring what is happening.

Add Clinton Anderson, just got an email from him to support the ATHCA…I wrote both Clinton and ATHCA and told them about HSUS in general, referred them to this site and said that I had bought my last product from Clinton and would see that the horse community knew this, too.
