Tell Honda to Give Shelter Pets a “Day Off”

It’s Super Bowl weekend, and we’re looking forward to sitting back with some wings and nachos and enjoying a good game. Like many folks, we’re also psyched for the commercials—especially one from Honda that’s getting a bit of buzz due to its “Ferris Bueller” theme.

Unfortunately, Honda is also sponsoring HSUS’s Genesis Awards in March. HSUS is a group with a radical PETA agenda that deceptively raises money as if it’s a pet shelter group, yet doesn’t run a single pet shelter and gives only 1 percent of the money it raises to pet shelters.

Shelter pets are under pressure every day, and the more support that goes to HSUS (which already has $200 million tucked) is support that pet shelters need. Millions of pets are euthanized every year because shelters don’t have the resources, especially in this economy. Meanwhile, HSUS tucks away millions into its pension plan.

So please go to Honda’s Facebook wall and ask the company to give shelter pets something to say “Oh Yeah” about by giving its support to a local humane society instead. We doubt Honda would fund a PETA event,  and we’re confident they’d be open to join Yellow Tail, Pilot Travel Centers, Mary Kay cosmetics, Precious Cat kitty litter, and Hill's Science Diet dog food in realizing that there are better ways to help animals than giving money to HSUS.

I will boycott all these companies until Honda comes forward to the public in regards to their procedures.  Start giving to actual shelters more than 1%!

Give money where it will be used for the animals that need it, not where it will line the pockets of a CEO!  Support local shelters!!!

its not fair for a company that is so famous to support something that takes advantage of you.if more companies would actually do their homework on something they want to support maybe more animals would live and not have their lives takin before they even get a chance.a little money can go a long way especially someone who can afford to give out.it makes me sad to know that there’s thousands of animals out there that dont even get a chance, when all it takes is for someone to give or care about these poor animals.people just see them as pets but they are more then that, they have to rely on people to survive.that’s the same as having to take care of you children or yourself.so come on Honda open your eyes and see that your not helpin your Killing instead.

AS A HONDA OWNER , I HOPE YOU LISTEN.

HSUS interferes with conservation efforts around the world, and is a far greater threat our way of life than any other organization.  They want to end the keeping of all animals in captivity, including dogs and cats, livestock, and zoos.

Support your local shelters or rescues! DO NOT continue to pad these big shots pockets. Shame on them for using these poor neglected, abused and discarded animals to get rich. You all are pathetic. Seems anymore the only reason people are rich is because they have screwed it out of some one or something. Or, used someone or some thing to get it. Oh yea, STOP sending me that crap to donate to you. You will only pay for me to send it back to you!

SUPPORT LOCAL SHELTERS!!!!!  Do not give your money to HSUS!!!!!!!

I posted this on Honda’s facebook page wall
Honda, please consider sponsoring someone else instead of the genesis awards in March for an organization that only gives less than 1% of their income to local pet shelters. Please research the practices of HSUS who advertises as though it is an umbrella for pet rescue and adoption. Can you instead support local pet shelters? Thank you.

When Honda brought out the Element and advertised it as a great dog vehicle they used the HSUS logo in the ads. They were told then why dog people wouldn’t be buying the vehicle if they were sponsoring HSUS. Guess they haven’t learned.

The educational process must go on.  Remember the truth about HSUS is their greatest enemy.  “Keep telling the story, be faithful and true…”  Truth is on our side.

I was considering purchasing a 2012 Pilot.  This information has made me change my mind.  Honda needs to wake up and do their homework.

Please take a moment and research HSUS’S percentages of giving, and you will realize you made a terrible mistake.

1% of the money that donated is not enough. 100%. of the money should go to the animals and their care and safety, not the CEOs. We demand justice for these defenseless animals. Please, stop the waste, get to it and do the right thing! HELP the animals.

I live in Topeka, KS where all the Science Diet is made and the offices are located. How plain is it that I need to make an appointment and go call on them. I’m going to research them a bit to see who hears things up here. Thanks for the information about them. They give a lot of dog food away here to the local shelter so I know they are not bad guys, just uninformed. I can take care of that. Post here if you have any info I might need there and I’ll subscribe to the follow up notices. Blessings Gayla

I misread the information about Hill’s Science Diet and realized it when I went back to the article for information I needed to approach them. If I am reading right they have actually gotten on the bandwagon with us. So, I went to the Honda facebook page and wrote them a huge article. Go read it and write your own assessment for them. Let’s keep their FB page full for a while to make the biggest impact possible on them. I did tell them that there is talk about a boycott and we will let them check out the informaton before doing that. There are millions of us in the rescue end of pet lovers and we have the numbers to make an impact but let’s not do that until they have had a chance to check us out. They are probably as uninformed as most of the general public. Personally I’ve been driving either Hondas or Toyota for the last thirty years and I’m thinking of buying a new vehicle in the spring. It won’t be a Honda if they continue their association with HSUS. Blessings Gayla

I posted to Honda’s facebook wall, and they had one of their (presumable) employees respond with a nasty retort. What more can be expected from a business that donates to ‘charities’, particularly for their own gain? The more HSUS is exposed for their deceits and treacheries, the more of their nastiness will be displayed. Bring it on! After alerting my neighbor to HSUS’s trickeries and deceits, she and her family no longer donate to HSUS.

For those of us who aren’t Facebook devotees, this set of directions is confusing.  If I follow the links I end out in a maze of comments about car models.  Please understand that some of us hate facebook almost as much as HSUS.

Honda did a good job of hiding our posts. I went back and looked to see if others had posted and Honda had put up a post of theirs over and over agian pushing mine so far down the line it would never be noticed by anyone seeing their page. I expected a response from them but that was not to be. I guess that shows that they are in bed with Honda. The is a certain mindset at work in this country and both organizations probably feed off one another. They both smack of NWO so what would you expect.

Honda also has a postal address, of which I used to send them a short message about HSUS in addition to how this would-be Honda buyer is now an ex-buyer. They can hide if they want to, but facebook et al is used and viewed by many.
