We Spent Wednesday With a Bunch of So-Called “Animal Abusers”
Whew—We had a great time yesterday at the Animal Ag Alliance summit. And yes, that title was a jab at HSUS. The crowd at that event was the nicest bunch of people we've seen in a long time—certainly more cheerful (and less scowl-worn) than the typical animal rights convention.
First of all, we must take our hats off to Wesley J. Smith. He gave a very well-spoken indictment of the animal rights movement on Wednesday morning, and we were fortunate to share a panel with him.
For all you HumaneWatchers who weren't able to come, here are the Cliff’s Notes:
- The Washington Times’ reader-driven blog reported my contention that "cage-free" will never be enough to satisfy HSUS;
- The Des Moines Register repeated my prediction that HSUS wants "to put you out of business with any weapon that’s available”; and
- Brownfield Ag News interviewed me right afterward:

It would be neat to see the results of both sanity and polygraph checks on all who endlessly propagandize that “animals are human.”
Sure leaves me aware of why I find ever increasing numbers of people & efforts to usurp my property—whether animals or land in the form of forestry and farm lands. These scam artists have big plans to profit from what I’ve paid for in $$, sweat, and (more than once in) my blood.
Worse, I see these groups as HUGE threats to our national and food security. I’m sick of the animal radicals dumping us knee deep in imported mutts from abroad carrying often infective new diseases that spread here for no better purpose than demonizing and doing in all our pet breeders and all US pets.
