Humane World Vice Chair Found in “Epstein Files”
Now here’s something we didn’t have on our bingo card: The vice chairman of Humane World Action Fund is in the Jeffrey Epstein files. Humane World Action is the lobbying arm of Humane World for Animals–until recently known as the Humane Society of the United States.
According to a report in US Magazine, Thomas McMillen, who is also a former Congressman and NBA player, was recently confronted during a podcast interview about his name appearing in the Epstein files. Congress recently voted to release troves of documents related to the late convicted pedophile.
According to US:
McMillen’s handwritten name showed up in a 1993 flight log, weeks after he left Congress after serving the state of Maryland for six years and two months after he was seen chatting with Epstein and President Donald Trump in an NBC video to promote Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, which is also featured during the podcast episode.
“I don’t recall, and I don’t think it’s accurate. I don’t recall,” said McMillen, who joined the podcast via video call. […]
Torre, 40, pushed forward, saying the former NBA star appeared as “Tom McMillen (Congressman)” on the flight log for a trip from Washington, D.C., to Atlanta to Palm Beach, Florida.
“Not true. I don’t recall any of this,” McMillen insisted.
He continued, “Please, can we move on? I thought we were talking about sports and stuff. This is stuff from 35 years ago. I don’t have any relationships here.”
McMillen then announced he would be ending the interview abruptly.
But then McMillen’s story seems to change slightly:
Torre asked McMillen if he had any “final comment” to help set the record straight.
“I haven’t had any relationship with [Epstein] since the early ‘90s,” McMillen said. “So, I think that’s it. A lot of people knew him. I barely knew him. So, let’s move on.”
So which is it? He doesn’t recall knowing Epstein, or he does recall but think it’s irrelevant because it was so long ago?
After the contentious interview, McMillen issued a statement saying he “never had a close relationship or what I could characterize as a friendship with Epstein” and “I still do not remember ever being on Epstein’s plane, including in Jan 1993.”
But given the fact that his recollection seemed to change mid-interview, this response raises more questions in our mind than answers. Was Humane World Action vice chair Tom McMillen on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane, and if so, for what purpose?
The Department of Justice is expected to release more Epstein files on December 19. We’ll see if there’s more information that comes to light.
